Stunning views over the Atlantic, an absolute gem set on the North Devon coast.
The Pub / Venue
The Wreckers Bar is located right on the Atlantic at Hartland Quay. It’s perched on the edge of a wild and spectacular bay with soaring granite cliffs all around. Part of the Hartland Quay Hotel, you can arrive by foot from Clovelly, Hartland Point, Welcome or Bude and, as it’s at the bottom of a twisty hairpin road that winds dramatically down from the cliffs above it’s also easily reached by foot, bike, car or horseback along sheltered lanes through the lovely rolling Devon countryside. Pint of Korev: £4.40.
Backdrop
The backdrop is absolutely stunning. The outdoor seating looks directly over the cliffs and ocean – a truly unobstructed view. It’s so good, I was actually recommended this place while reviewing The Beaver Inn in Appledore!
Seating
There are 10 4-seater benches with unobstructed views but they are all hotly contested when the weather is glorious.
Atmosphere
Everyone is blown away by the views and the atmosphere reflects this. Quiet chatter, glazed eyes and cold pints.
Facilities
Dog friendly (on the terrace / leads required), dark toilets, Korev, San Miguel, Carlsberg and a variety of ciders on tap
