The Pub
Backdrop
I mean there’s no denying that the setting is phenomenal. Perranporth beach is one of the best in Cornwall with its golden sand, surf, ‘Chapel Rock’ and dunes. This place gets a great sunset and the Watering Hole is in a prime location for you to enjoy it. It is literally a beach bar so that says it all really – unobstructed views, no roads, no glass no fences. Just the beach and Atlantic. I think this might be one of the only true beach bars in the UK. Please get in touch if you know of any others – I’ll jump in the van and go find it! Backdrop score: 5/5.
Seating
As you can see from the video, there are loads of decent seats. In terms of backdrop, the best are located on the edge. All tables fit roughly six adults and a few come with an umbrella for shade. Seating score: 5/5.
Atmosphere
Decent beach bar atmosphere, pints were flowing, people in high spirits. That said, the staff at the bar are relatively inexperienced and can be a bit slow (so the queues get massive at peak times – not great if you tend to be on the thirsty side like me). I’m going to mark it down for this – Atmosphere score: 2.5/5.
Beer
Big election of European lagers some local classics – something for everyone.
Facilities
Horrible toilets, dog friendly, stage (which plays host to music events)
The Watering Hole, Perranporth
Summary
Worth travelling for. The UK’s only true beach bar until proven otherwise.
